Abu Dhabi’s Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has has unveiled its latest venture AI71 – a new artificial intelligence (AI) company.

The launch signals United Arab Emirate’s commitment to keep pace in the rapidly evolving AI landscape and establish itself as a frontrunner in the ever-accelerating global AI competition.

Built on the Falcon Generative AI Model developed by the Abu Dhabi-based publicly funded Technology Innovation Institute (TII), AI71 promises multi-domain specializations, with an initial focus on the medical, educational, and legal sectors.

AI71 was formally launched by Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The company will “focus on multi-domain specializations while offering unprecedented AI data control options for companies and countries looking to self-host for greater privacy.”

Decentralized Data Control

Powered by ATRC‘s Falcon generative AI models, AI71 emerges as a gamechanger in the AI landscape, offering unparalleled control over AI data.

“AI71 will enable decentralized data ownership, allowing clients to retain control of their own data. This offering will set new standards for privacy and security, serving as a differentiator for AI projects where data sovereignty is critical.” This offering is valuable for enterprises, large corporations, and foreign government entities keen to ensure that their data remains private.

AI71 is set to collaborate with seven key partners across the ecosystem, including the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi, the Office of Artificial Intelligence, and World Wide Technology. These partnerships aim to provide integrated on-premise AI solutions, data labeling services, and support for broader adoption.

AI71 will initially focus on the medical sector, aiming to transform diagnostic capabilities and decision-making processes. Educational and legal sectors will also benefit from AI integration, introducing nuanced solutions for societal development.

Faisal Al Bannai, Secretary General of the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC), emphasized AI71’s commitment to democratizing AI resources by perpetually open-sourcing Falcon AI models. “In the UAE, collaboration is more than a practice – it’s embedded in our DNA. Our Falcon generative AI models, at the heart of AI71, empower developers, companies, and countries, and grants them autonomy to steer their own data destiny,” Faisal said.

This pro-innovation, whole-of-society approach positions AI71 as a catalyst for creative innovation, deepening Abu Dhabi’s and the UAE’s standing as serious contenders in the global AI landscape.
